Takeuchi is name you don't hear very often in North America. However in places such as Austral-Asia or Japan, Takeuchi is a very common machine. When it comes to building excavators and smaller tracked loaders, Takeuchi could very well be considered a leader in it's class. One item to point out first is that Takeuchi has probably one of the best warranties in the business. In the North American market, each compact excavators come with a 2-year, 2,000 hour full machine warranty as standard equipment. Another feature that is offered is a control pattern selector valve allows for quick change of operating controls between SAE and ISO patterns to accommodate operator preferences.

Takeuchi has 7 models of excavators ranging in sizes from 2000 pounds to 32000 pounds. The smallest machine is the TB108 that is powered with a 10 horse Yanmar and has a digging depth of 5 feet and 6 inches. The largest model is the TB1140. This is a very robust excavator for the size and weight class. With steel tracks this unit weighs almost 32,000 pounds and a has digging depth of 18 feet. This is powered by an Isuzu AJ-4JJ1 which produces almost 100 horse power. This digger is one of the few on the market that has a 24 volt electrical system.

One of the more popular models is the TB285. This excavator sits in the 19,000 pound class and would be very comparable to the Kubota KX080. Where as the Kubota is powered by a 90 horse Kubota engine, the TB285 is powered with a slightly less Yanmar 4TNV98T which produces 69 horse power. Although when it does come down to digging strength, the Takeuchi is a bit more powerful.

One of the features that the TB285 has is the dual lifting rams on the main boom. This is probably the only excavator in this class that offers dual rams. Most excavaotrs in this class are still equipted with a single center mount ram.

Takeuchi also build a series of zero swing excavators. There are 3 models ranging in horse power from 28 to 60 horse. Digging depths are from 10 feet to 14 feet 11 inches.
